On the morning of February 10th, the colonial-fascist Turkish state launched a new offensive against the Priz, Bergarê and Siyanê areas, Garê’s affiliate of the Medya Defense Zones. Several military planes and helicopters bombed guerrilla areas including Kurdish land, forests and civilian settlements while the state’s genocidal troops were dropped from the air.
The nature of this new colonial offensive is plainly not just an attack but a permanent occupation.
The guerrilla struggle remains the people’s hope and honour. The Medya Defense Zones are part of Kurdistan: The guerrillas’ presence here is legitimate, while the Turkish fascist state forces are invaders.
This is not just an attack on the PKK, but a new phase of the Turkish state’s plans to invade and occupy Rojava and Southern Kurdistan from Afrin to Xakurke; a continuation of the attacks on Afrin and Serêkanî. It is clear that attacks on Shengal and Mexmûr will soon follow. The attack is directed against all Kurdish people and their nation.
Meanwhile, it is also an attack on the Turkish people, a bid to drown out the voices raised by workers, youth, women and LGBT people against poverty, unemployment, and the growing shadow of chauvinism and fascist state terror. The tactics of repression, detention and house arrest used against the Boğazici resistance and United Revolutionary Forces are new manifestations of this impudent fascist aggression.
The obvious truth is this: The colonial-fascist palace regime intends to attack the gains of the Kurdish people without relent, in order to overcome its own political crisis and poison the masses with chauvinism. Crisis and colonialism go hand in hand: The Turkish people cannot achieve their struggle to escape the bondage of fascism unless it is waged as a combined struggle against colonialism.
Furthermore, that this attack took place right after the visit to Germany of Hulusi Akar, occupation minister of the Turkish state, is no coincidence. Regardless of their contradictions, US and EU imperialism will always side with the colonial-fascist Turkish state when it comes to the revolutionary gains of the Kurdish people.
Let us not remain silent to the massacres and genocidal attacks of the invading Turkish state. Let us condemn the colonial-fascist invaders wherever we are. Let us take to the streets against the occupation and spread our resistance throughout Europe and the world.
Let us show that just as the colonialists have imperialist friends, we have international solidarity of the workers and the oppressed.
Let us expose the US and EU imperialists and unite with the progressive forces of Europe against the invader!
